We Build

Development Partner for Housing Authorities and Cities

Dr. Nash has sat on every side of the table: as a resident, a regulator, a policy maker, and a developer.

We do not advise on affordable housing from a distance. We develop it, and we carry the risk. For housing authorities and cities choosing a development partner, that is the difference: a partner who stays with the project from site control to stabilized occupancy.

What We Bring

The Development Partner Role

Co development with faith partners, municipalities, transit authorities, and housing agencies.

Partnerships

Co development with faith partners, municipalities, transit authorities, and housing agencies. We bring the development expertise so our partners can focus on their mission.

Site Selection

Strategic site identification shaped by eight years on the City Council and four as Chair of Planning, Zoning & Economic Development. We evaluate sites the way decision makers do.

Financing

Capital stack assembly across tax credits, soft funds, construction loans, and permanent financing. Our projects layer many sources into a single closing; The Mabion combined MHDC tax credits and HOME funds, a City CDBG grant and HOME funds, the Kansas City Housing Trust Fund, a construction loan and a permanent loan.

Transit Oriented

Housing at transit hubs so residents can reach jobs, healthcare, and opportunity without a car. Two active KCATA partnership projects prove this model works in Kansas City.

Mixed Income

Economically diverse communities where market rate and subsidized units share the same hallways, the same amenities, and the same standard of quality. Inclusion by design.

Workforce Housing

Homes for the teachers, nurses, and first responders who keep Kansas City running, at 60 to 80% AMI. Dignified housing that essential workers deserve and can actually afford.

Why the record matters

Four developments. Every one is still ours to finish.

Alumnus Gardens was delivered, damaged by a tornado, and is being rebuilt. The Mabion is complete. Alumnus Gardens West and Promise Place are under construction. We stayed with every one of them.

A consultant can walk away when the report is done. A developer cannot. That is why we know what it takes to get from dirt to keys.

The Difference

Why Dr. Nash

Lived Experience

Dr. Nash grew up in Section 8 housing in Kansas City. He does not study the affordable housing crisis from a distance. He lived it, and that shapes every project we build.

Policy Insider

Former Chair, Planning, Zoning & Economic Development Committee (2003-2007). Governor-appointed MHDC commissioner, later Vice Chairman. We know government incentives from the inside.

Proven Leadership

254 homes awarded. Assistant teaching professor at a major university. First African-American to become a partner in a top 10 commercial real estate firm in the history of the State of Missouri.

Community First

We build in the neighborhoods we come from. Deep resident engagement, local hiring commitments, and partnerships with community organizations that were here long before us.

From Section 8 to Developer. Your Partner Is Ready.

If you have land, a mission, or capital looking for impact, we should talk.

Hiring a prime consultant or building a team? We welcome both.

The evidence

What this is built on

The firm does not ask to be taken at its word. 31 accounts of the work, and the 230 published clippings written at the time, are open to read.

We can’t predict the future. We can predict the room.

Public, private, nonprofit or philanthropic, we know the questions that room will ask and where a deal is likely to break. We spent our years doing the work, not writing about it, so our advice carries lived experience, practical knowledge and academic preparation.
