I grew up in Section 8 housing in Kansas City. I didn't just escape poverty, I systematized the escape and dedicated my life to helping others do the same.
I helped my older brothers enroll in college first. Then I encouraged my mother to earn her GED, and in 2001 I helped her enroll at UMKC. Each one, teach one.
